George's Story: Company Involvement Leads to Big Impact on Wish Kids
Nolan's wish to be in a rock band
George may be CEO of a financial services firm, but this family man is also in the business of recruiting WishMakers. “What better thing can you do with your spare time in your life than help children?”
After serving on his local Make-A-Wish board, George was inspired to do more. George and his wife became volunteers, and their two teenagers led fundraisers. Inviting his company to donate was an easy next step.
“We wanted to help Make-A-Wish financially,” George said. “And then on top of that, we encouraged our colleagues to volunteer more often.”
The gratitude experienced from directly helping wish kids like Nolan tops George’s reasons why other companies should get involved.
We've seen the impact of wish granting and how that changes the child's attitude and how that can help them fight their particular illness … I think companies can definitely benefit [from] that, because it helps instill a sense of camaraderie and teamwork while you're fulfilling a very important mission.
George feels especially good supporting the #1 Most Trusted Nonprofit Operating Locally Across 50 States*, and he hopes more companies will become WishMakers, too.
“World Wish Month is a time to volunteer and a time to give.” Become a WishMaker like George today.
